A Community Benefits District for Oakland's Chinatown
The Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council (OCIC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to helping Oakland Chinatown small businesses, residents, and greater Chinatown community. OCIC as a Community Benefits District is a long-term solution to make our community feel safe, clean, and welcoming to all.
VISIT
Visit Oakland Chinatown to try out some great Asian cuisine, gather some fresh produce, get well with herbal remedies and settle down with a tasty boba. Chinatown also allows you to connect with the Asian community: attend a cultural event, participate in a festival, locate that hard to find book in the Asian Library, and improve your health with a morning tai chi session.
EARTH DAY 2023
Saturday, April 22 PickItUp Event
OCIC will be coordinating with OCA-East Bay to sponsor a clean-up event on Earth Day, April 22, 2023. Come meet your neighbors and help to clean up the community. We will be providing bags, gloves, and equipment. Participants will receive a t-shirt to commemorate their support for our Earth.
Working for a Better Chinatown
OCIC is working to build a better Chinatown, one that is safer, cleaner, more vibrant. Some of programs we are committed to supporting:
- Ambassadors help with graffiti removal, power washing and trash pickup
- Private security and volunteer patrol groups work with local law enforcement to enhance your safety
- Helping our businesses with promotions and the requirements for operating a successful business in Oakland
